Πολύ περιληπτικά έχει αποδοθεί το μεγάλο
ταξίδι στην ηπειρωτική Ευρώπη του Bill, ταξίδι που έγινε μετά τον
πρόσκαιρο χωρισμό του με την αρραβωνιαστικιά του Stella. Σε αυτό το εκτενές ταξίδι γνώρισε
τις τρεις γυναίκες που τον επισκέφθηκαν στο Εδιμβούργο και στις οποίες όλες είχε
δώσει το κλειδί του διαμερίσματός του. Από συγκυρία ενώ το κλειδί προοριζόταν για την μητέρα της Harry, εκείνη που έλαβε κατά λάθος το
κλειδί ήταν η νεαρά Harry,
ερωτευμένη με τον Bill.
Mάλιστα
στο τέλος η Harry
νομίζει πως ο Bill θέλει να την αρραβωνιαστεί. Ο Bill όμως τρέχει να προλάβει την
αρραβωνιαστικιά του την Stella,
η οποία κατά σύσταση της Maggie
είχε μεταβεί και εκείνη
στην παραλία για να ανακτήσει τον Bill. Τελικά ο Bill προλαβαίνει την Stella και αρπάζοντάς την από το
λεωφορείο την βάζει εξαναγκαστικά στο αυτοκίνητό του. Στο δρόμο προς την πόλη της
υπόσχεται γάμο.
Στην ταινία έχουμε τρεις επικείμενους γάμους,
της Lucile
με τον Al, της Ingrid με τον Giulio και φυσικά της Stella με τον Bill. ]
