“ A Bell for Adano ” (1945 film).

   A BELL FOR ADANO’s Tina, Sicilian fisherman’s daughter who befriends lonely Major Joppolo (John Hodiak), is played by lovely, blond (for the film) Gene Tierney (above).

   Adapted from John Hersey’s best-selling novel about the problems encountered by conscientious AMG official who rates humanitarianism above “rules and regulations”, during the military occupation of a liberated small Italian town, the movie was directed by Henry King, features, also, William Bendix, Richard Conte, Stanley Prager.
